engine and drivetrain need help installing sways...

so, i managed to get a set of used 23 mm sways, for the big cost of free-fitty. They came from someone else on the forum, that had a 71 2002. He said they were Suspension Techniques bars.

I've got the old bar off, and trying to get the 'new' one on there. I can't get anything lined up. The hole on the end of the bar is too far backward to allow the bolt to slide down thru the control arm. I tried it with the front of the car jacked, and on the ground. I thought maybe I had the bar on upside down, so I flipped it over, and now it hits the engine.

Is there something I'm missing?

Seems like everything SHOULD line up with no problem. Not sure why it wouldn't.
