Only 3 weeks until race day and its all going pear shaped !!

First job of the day was too get the rear subframe back in , everything was ready apart from putting the rear Ireland bushes in the Diff hanger. First nightmare!!! One knackered bush later and thats put a end to that !! How on earth are they meant to fit?? We ended up using a press but just shreaded it in the end..Very confused as the taper itself hardly fits in the hole.

So the subframe goes on for the 2nd time after forgetting to put the drive shaft in place the first time, And you can just imagine how much it didnt want to come back off the car one we realised what we had forgotton!!! So a hour passed of raising and lowering the jack while the main subframe bolts where hanging on for all they are worth !!

Next was fitting the new adjustable rear sway bar .. we picked up a rear subframe with camber/ caster adustments a few weeks ago , when it arrived we noticed that one of the sway bar clamps were missing, No probs we thought we can just use the ones that we took off from the old one. Guess what !?!?!? They are different sizes !!! , The one that came over from the states was perfect and the two from good old damp wet England ( Did I forget to mention that there is now driving rain coming through the garage door !!! ) dont fit at all !!

So now I have a rear subframe hanging on with two bolts , A sway bar hanging on with two bolts and a slowly getting very frustrated man!! . Right next is the short shift linkage.. Maybe I was just doing something wrong but unless you have hands the size of a hamster that are of course double jointed too ...HOW DO YOU CHANGE THE LINKAGE?? I have been told that its possible to with everthing in position but I really couldnt see how without cutting a workable area out of the transmission tunnel ( prob be the best idea for ease in the future ).

So that was it , Covered in crap ..Cold ...Now wet and wished I had just stayed in bed with the girlfrend !!

Anyway thought I like to let you know how my day has been!! ;O)

Hmm... I installed my diff mount bushings at home while watching TV. I made s mall puller with a long bolt and a nut. The only problem I had was that I initially forgot to remove the old ring around the old bushing, and that prevented me from inserting the urethane bushing.

Brake harder. Go faster.

or just put them in a bucket, and fill with hot water from the faucet. Use a little lubricant to make them slide. You still have to press them, but they become a bit more elastic when hot.
