Next weekend should result in alot more smiles per mile. I can't wait to see how much this will improve the ride. The last time I did this to the malaga car I used bav auto springs and koni's. Time did not permit replacing the bushings and I didn't have any upper strut bearings either. Even without doing that the ride was so much better. So this time I'm doing everything including ball joints.

Nothing like replacing everything at once.

Do yourself a favor and clean and paint all parts before reassembly. It'll make you feel wholesome and thoughtful to your trusty steed. I just did this entire job last week for a customer (sans shocks - everything else is new or refinished) hope the photo works....

Paul: I hadn't even thought about cleaning and painting it yet. That's one of those things that never dawn on me until I'm halfway into the project. Did you use any special paint or will the Krylon I have be sufficient?

Bill: If I had the time and space I would drop it all, and take care of a few other items at the same time.

Grant: I'm not sure of the spring rate but the part number for the springs is 60015. I would think you could call ST with that and they might be able to tell you. It wasn't a big concern for me so I just ordered them off of the shox.com site.

Use a wire wheel to clean up any questionable areas, use a scuff pad all over. I used some SEM rust converter (POR-15,etc...) and then hit it down with several coats of rattle can satin black. Make sure it is clean and protected and paint it up nice. Don't go as far as chrome plating, air brushing, pinstriping or the like. These parts are under the car and they are going to get beat up.

The big downside to changing everything all at once is when you have finished the job. You no longer have a pile of bright and shiny new parts to drool over.
