Hi all, I picked up this 73 tii back in December and have been wondering about the bumbers on it since the day I saw it. Are these oem? They look a bet different than most of the euro bumpers I see on the net.

Thanks for the help!

The reason they look different is that they don't have the commonly seen (in the US) bumper guards (or whatever you want to call them - see thread a few posts down for a lengthy debate over their name).

Your '73 originally came with the longer rear bumper and with the horizontal rubber strip on both front and rear bumpers.

The ones your car has are what I'm installing on my '76.

Harry thanks! Here is a side view. I think the lenght (on the side) of the rear bumper is what has been throwing me off.

Yup, those little metal strips are the bumper joiners I mentioned. The strange thing is that the ones for latter cars (71-73 US models) are less than half the price and , I would think, harder to manufacture. Go figure...

Those bumper joiners look nice, but my car needs a lot of work before I can really get into the expensive details. By work I mean SAFETY! My rear subframe is rotted and starting to bend. Luckily I was able to pick on up that is in excellent condition from on of the board members. No I just have to get the rest of the bits and pieces to put on while I have the rear end apart.

Thanks

Front and rear, those are not OEM. The fronts have the larger mounting brackets (unique to the '73) that push the bumper out probably 6-8 inches further from the body. The rears have the longer sides that run almost up to the wheel well. My '73 had an older front bumper and brackets as well, and I just converted it back to original.
