First time poster to the Forum (or any forum for that matter). I purchased a 72Tii back in November. The engine has 6500 miles on it after a frame off restoration from 2002AD in 2001. Zero mods as far as I can tell, minus 320 radiator. My problem is after a day of driving, say 2-3 hours of highway/surface streets, it begins to hesitate upon accleration. Throw you forward in the seatbelt type of hesitation. It actually stopped running on my way home the other night at a light and I could not restart. I've driven it much more than the previous owner, but I noticed from his maintenance records he had it looked at for similar problems. Let the car sit overnight, and she's as good as new in the morning. I tried to take it into Atlantic Autowerks in VA Beach this morning, but it had not been driven enough to replicate the hestitation. Sorry for the wordy post. Any help?

just off the top of my head things related to temperature and time right?

It could be the fuel pump that gets too warm or maybe is on its way to wearing out, so it faults after running for a while?

Could it be the coil is getting hotter and hotter and eventually it starts dying on you? Once its dead cold in the morning its fine again?

So in the records is there any evidence that the coil or fuel pump has been checked/changed?

best of luck.

Have a look for possible rust flakes blocking the screen in the fuel tank, or other filters/screens. If it refuses to start, check for spark. Tii's are also easy to flood so if u have intermittent spark problems during starting, you can easily gas foul the plugs and cause a secondary issue.

Email me at rlknchina(at)yahoo(dot)com and I will give ya the email of my part-time mechanic (actually he is a teacher with a BMW problem) in Va Beach. He rebuilt my tii motor many years ago.

Cheers,

Ray
