Looks like a nice, low milage, unrestored example of a Tii. Pretty rare with low milage and unmolested engine and interior. Hopefullly it arrives as advertised and you'll be stoked to find such a rare BMW. So who, 2002faq wise has a lower milage 02? 10,778 if actual, is crazy. That's like 3-5 months of driving. Post pics when you get it. Cool Car, the Golf yellow is Groovy.

gosh, i really hope it turns out to be real, BUT

there were a couple things that just didn't pass the 'smell test' from a distance.

first and foremost was the washed-out VIN plate.

i have 100K+ cars with perfect VIN plates. i pulled a clean VIN plate off a junkyard car exposed to the elements for god-knows how long. 10K car with a VIN plate like that??

btw, i ALWAYs look very close at the VIN tag for any telltale signs of respray. even with the best of taping, there's usually some small sign. i don't recall seeing any on this car, though.

the spare tire bracket was painted too as i remember (these are typically black)

the carpet by the floor pedals looked suspicious too.

10K miles just is not that much. i'd expect near pristine with a light dusting of dust on the surfaces for that to be more convincing.

i hope i'm wrong, but for an eBay car i have to be super critical if i can't personally inspect, especially for the mileage claimed.

my unsolicited opinion.

......kicking the soapbox to the middle of the floor now.....

Yeah, I noticed that too. I figured that anything rubber can be expected to have deteriorated somewhat, so I just assumed that maybe a brake cylinder was leaking. But on the other hand, the owner stated clearly in plain english, NO leaks! We'll see. I'll be a little uptight until I go pick it up and see for myself. I hope I'm not disappointed. I realize that you have to take a chance on something like this. If it's close to what was described, I'll be really really happy. It's hard to put a value on something like this if it's true that it only has 11K. If it was misrepresented, well then obviously I would have paid too much.

What do you all think, would I be totally stupid to try to drive it back to So Cal?

I'm thinking of renting a trailer to haul it back. My son's got a pick-up. Even if I drive it, my son will follow me in the truck so I won't be stranded even if it breaks down.

looks like a great car. if it were me and i had access to a car trailer id trailer it. hes claiming even original tires?? they have to be junk and as cracked and aged as my ex wifes face.

just too many things dried out and in need of attention would be my guess
