I'll have to use some tank sealer for my tank. I have some holes but not sure if they're too big to seal., I understand that the sealers will seal up pinholes.

Attached are some pics of my gas tank with the holes I've found, so far with just a wire wheel I've found four. I plan to have it boiled out on Monday.

When I hear the term "pinholes" I don't think of holes as big as what I have. Are these considered "pinholes"? They are about 5/64" or 1.98mm in diameter. Will the sealer work with these holes??

TIA

heres what i did, por 15 sells this fiberglass like fabric. you lay down some thick por15 then cut a thin strip of the fabric and lay it in the paint over your hole. let it set up a minute and then top coat it with more por15. i did this several times and it worked great. that in addition to your sealer will do the trick. i actually have some of that fabric left if you wanted to try it

I just thought it would be cheaper to fix mine. I'll see Rob on Monday.

Your tank looks pretty rough to me...but if you want to try and save it I'm sure with enough time & effort you can probably make it usable. I had a very slight leak on Hugo's tank, and it only opened up after I used a grind wheel (wire brush) on the seams...I then used epoxy (JB Weld) and then painted the entire tank with textured paint (hammered-style), and it came out great.

The holes in your tank look pretty big to me...maybe they can be welded shut?..then ground down...just a thought. Make sure the tank is perfectly empty & free of fuel or vapors before doing any welding.

Good luck,

John
