I thought That I remembered reading in a thread that you had a big box of cad plated nuts and bolts for your resto. I am curious who did it and what the cost was? Di they charge per pound? I have checked with a few places around me and it is astronomical. Such is California and the tougher laws that make CAD plating expensive. let me know IF you have any leads, as I have a growing box of nuts and bolts that might look nice plated.

Thanks-

David

My local zinc chromate supplier suggested Metal Surfaces in Bell Garden - 562-927-1331.

Unfortunately, I do not have any personnel experience with Metal Surfaces so I don't know if they will accept small orders.

and the guy told me he'd do everything I brought in for $50. It's not their typical business, but he said he'd run my stuff. I was just going to go talk to him again before I dropped off my stuff. Problem is, I have every nut and bolt neatly bagged for re-assembly.

He's also going to re-anodize my big bumpers pretty cheap.

of what your parts will look like--not all platers are equal. My understanding is (and their may be others that know better) that the part needs to be completely cleaned AND polished before they reapply the cad plating--the polishing part is really important otherwise the part will come out with the yellow cad coating but it will be dull in color not the shiny appearnce that new gold cad nuts and bolts have--their is a difference ( a big one in my opinion) if you are going to the expense and trouble of having it done, might as well do it right.

There's a great article on Do It Yourself Cad Plating in Hemming's Exotic & Sports Cars magazine - latest edition. I just received my copy.

Only problem Is that I have so many friggen nuts and Bolts, I could spend the next year plating. I will most likely utilize the kit When I am a little caught up in my efforts, but 100 dollars for hours of my time is a deal.

Burbank plating told me 125 for a lot. Size didnt matter. So, I will try and get the biggest lot together possible and go from there.

though a friend. I usually use Pugh Metals on West Street in Greenboro NC. $50 for a five gallon bucket full plus shipping. Not as much red as I have seen from other platers but still nice.

Talk to Jimmy Pugh and he will take care of you. They just do not remove paint.

Most rust will be removed in thier process. If you want it shiny like new parts, sand blast or polish before you send it to them.

I think you pretty much got your question answered but the first time i took a lot in it was small and they charged me like 110.00 bucks. i freaked and called back and asked wtf? then i got another guy and asked him what the break point was. he said just bring in a bucket as large as you want and ask to do it all in 1 lot. i brought in a 5 gallon pail half full and it was around 50 bucks. the place is called coop plating in st paul minnesota. i could get a number if youre interested. im sure you could ship ups but there has to be a place local to you. just ask for pricing ahead of time
