I have seen some racers adapting these trailing arms to 02's. My question is there a difference between 325i and 323i arms?

Not sure what you mean - the 323 arms are from an e21 and a 325 is an e30. different trailing arms and I've never heard about anyone fitting e30 arms to an 02 subframe, but anything can be done I guess.

I think you're mixing your e's!

have the same suspension geometry, so they can be used - with appropriate modifications.

The single biggest issue is spring/shock mounts - E21's use a coil-over style spring/shock mount vs the '02's separate spring perch and shock installation. so using 323 trailing arms on an '02 requires either

1) installing spring perches on the 323 trailing arm or

2) converting the '02 to coilovers

The secondary issue is e-brake cables - not sure what cable mods would be required, but it's a pretty safe bet that E21 cables won't work on an '02 without shortening or other mods.
