Tell me more about external temp switches - Keith K or Lars?

Can you tell me the following: What is it? Where do I get it? How do I install it? Does it work as well as a thread-in internal thermo switch?

My electric fan is now IN. The stock fan is still in until I know everything works. Reversing polarity worked for converting to push. Right now, the electric fan is manually switched. I'll add a thermo-switch as soon as I can. My drain plug has a 13mm head - I am guessing this is too small an opening for an internal switch so if the external works it's easier than adding a boss for an internal sensor.

I think later years had an extra boss in the water manifold on the head. I have one where that boss isn't tapped, but I plan to tap it and install the sensor there.

Some British cars fry engines because the gauge sensor is in the radiator. Thermostat fails, radiator stays cool, engine melts down.
