red 'L' for 'Lectric light coming on as rpm goes above 4K??

What's the go here? Noticed this yesterday on the Vic drive and it has me puzzled.

Check the 3 wire connector on the back of the alternator. My car had the same symptoms and it turned out the connector had vibrated loose. The little keeper spring was missing. If all the connectors are in place, then it is most likely the voltage regulator giving up.

the alternator frame to the engine block...it can look good but the terminal connections can be vibrated loose or broken...

check the brushes. They could be on the hairy edge of worn out, with the extra vibration making them lose contact with the armature.
