Hi Clay,

I recall two different types used here. Older cars had a simple grommet / bushing pressed into the metal bracket that screws to the firewall, while others (my 73 at least) had a true "ball / spherical bearing" 2 pc. type - made from slightly harder rubber.

If I can find the part number for it - I'll post it. I think you have to buy the whole metal plate to get the bushing you need though.....and I *thought* they were NLA a few years ago at least.

Here you go Clay - I just don't know if they're really available. Make sure you lubricate it - or it will cause a teensy weensy squeak at idle that will drive you NUTS for months."urba urba urba urba..."...not that this would ever afflict one of MY cars now, of course! *wink*

Here goes:

bushing only: 35 41 1 103 775 used until about mid 72 std trans cars (changes with dual barrel carb maybe?)

bushing AND bracket: 35 41 1 103 778 (same application as above)

above numbers also used on Auto trans cars

right hand drive cars used this - and the illustration makes it look more like a real ball type. Could be a typo in description or drawing!

bushing only: 35 41 4 440 131

bracket only, w.out bush 35 41 4 440 130

since there's no illustration in MY book regarding later US 2002s - perhaps THIS is the type I remember my 73 having, and BMW simply screwed up the drawing / application chart.

HTH!
