can someone post a pic of the as to the location of the mixture adjustment on the back of the kfisch pump. Jaymic says: To adjust the mixture over the complete speed range, adjust screw (allen screw 3mm with plastic cover) between the warm up unit and the eccentric shaft in the back of the injector pump. screw in- rich, screw out -ean

Gus, Pacific Fuel Injection, rebuilt the pump 1 year ago and said the same thing. seeing a pic will give me beter understanding of the procedure.

Its a slot screw. Basically you need to pull off the #1 intake pipe to get to it. Once its off you'll find it. The hard part is knowing whether its adjusted properly or not.

There is a mixture adjustment inside the tuna can. Why are there two? Whats the differance?

attached. The threaded screw in the pic is the bottom of the screw you asked about. What the pic shows is the space that is adjusted by the screw. The screw that is adjusted is just above what you see in the pic. The screw can be an allen screw or a slot head screw, both are secured by a 10mm jam nut and covered by a plastic cover.

I don't mean to sound mean or demeaning, but if you do not know where the screw is, I would caution turning it. The Kugelfischer is a wonderful piece of engineering and should be understood befor adjusting the "forbotten" screw. Please take the time and understand the pump and the other adjustments first. Usually linkage adjustment and the adjustment in the tuna can or timing will take care of the mixture problems. If you insist on turning it, mark where you started with it and only turn in 1/16 increments. If you are attemptinging to make adjustments without readings from a CO meter, you are really operating in the dark area.

The adjustment screw that some refer to as the "forbotten" screw adjusts the fuel delivery curve across the range of fuel delivery from idle to full throttle. Making any adjustment to this screw should only be done by those that understand the Kugelfischer and the ignition system. I have been fooling with tiis for several years and I still have not adjusted this screw.

The adjustment in the tuna can you reference is a fine adjustment to change the ratio of the amount of air that is delivered compared to the amount of fuel. This ratio is first adjusted by calibrating the intermediate shaft or vertical shaft. This is referenced in the tii manual. Adjusting the intermediate shaft is the rough calibration of air to fuel.

Back to the small screw in the tuna can. When the small screw is moved, it adjusts the amount of air allowed through the throttle body by moving in very fine steps, the opening of the butterfly. Adjustments to the fine screw in the tuna can should also be made in very small increments, 1/16 turns or less. After each turn, the car should be checked with a CO meter to see what the AF ratio is.

To compare the two adjustments, the forbotten screw changes the fuel delivery over the range, and the small screw in the tuna can, changes the amount of air allowed through the throttle body.

If Gus provided you a data sheet after he rebuilt the pump, it should look similar to this, Hope you can read it.
