Hello everybody, I bought a '73 2002 (auto) about a month and a half ago. Runs good as an old machine. But I felt not really enjoy because it's auto trans. Guys, any idea? To sell it or modify it for a manual tii? Or if possible, TRADE it (hahah)? Suggestions please, thanks - RS333, Kansas City.

an automatic makes a good basis for a 5 speed conversion, as the tranny tunnel is larger to accomodate the automatic, so you don't need to do in BFH mods to the tunnel.

You'll need the proper flywheel, clutch assy (228mm recommended), a five speed tranny from a 320 and at least the front half of the 320's driveshaft to provide the guibo flange to mate with the 5 speed. You'll also need to get the shift linkage and the proper pedal box...sounds daunting but all this stuff is readily available--from folks on the board with parts cars as well as other sources.

Several companies make installation kits for this conversion, and lotsa folks have done it, so you're not off in the woods alone.

BTW, if your car has a tan/brown interior, I have a nearly mint set of OEM front floor carpets for an automatic--they're too narrow for a stick car due to tunnel width differences...

I have access to a '73 parts car w/manual transmission. No title. "Ran when parked," as they say. The engine, trans and driveline are intact. It's been in dry storage for many years and needs to be sold and taken away.

I will get over there in the next few weeks to take pictures.

I've got a deal going with the mechanic who owns it. I want a few trim bits from it, then it's anybody's old lump to take away. For a price, that is. Cheap, IMO.

Car is in Michigan.
