For a 5 spd conversion one can cut, shorten and weld back together the shift platform from a 320i five spd OR I've heard you can use the stock shift platform from a 323i (Euro) 5 spd without having to alter anything. Either way a shortend linkage pcs must be used, right? Anyone have in information to share here?

the 320 5 speed. Not sure why as they look similar, but Rob Torres is an expert on the subject, and he was my source. BTW, his kit is almost too nice to hide under the car!

The factory 2002 CR 5 speed shifter platforms were shortened 4 speed platforms, incidentally....

I'm using a shortened 2002 platform but I'll likely change it to the 320i platform at some point. Reason being is the support strut that bolts to the left side of the '02 support is inconvenient and cumbersome to work around. From examples I've seen, the 320 bracket only needs to be cut and redrilled for the two mounting holes. I may be mistaken on this point though.
