is the brand I have still in a box, bought it about 4 years ago or so from Bimmer Parts Company, when they were in Pottstown, PA., still wrapped/new, in the orange box it came in, It is made in Germany, anyone know if this brand is on the good/bad water pump list?

Hey Tim:

I can't answer your question, but I am working (in my new job) down the road about 15 minutes from the old Bimmer Parts Co. business location. I sure do miss those guys!!! Maybe it's just as well they are no longer there...because I'd be there on my lunch hour all the time buying stuff! :-)

Hey John,

I always had great service from Jeff, Craig, and Tom at Bimmer Parts Company. I know Jeff left quite some time before they closed up so it was Craig and Tom for a while but they were great people to buy from.

FWIW

In an earlier posting, I was told the S14 crowd has problems with the Lasso brand.

In the past week, I've purchased new Tii water pumps made by Hepu & Geba. I bought the Geba from Mesa Performance and the Hepu from JF Pro

I would think Mesa & JF Pro tend to deal with "quality" part suppliers.

At least in the E36 world, Geba does not have a good reputation.

Hepu is ok, Graf's are ok.

I am going to go with factory. The pumps that go to BMW are typically of the highest quality and have the lowest failure rate.

I installed 2 Gebas and 1 Graf on my m10 a few weeks back. They ALL leaked at the plug on the driver side. I ended up going to a local parts house that had a Italian one in stock. I installed it and no leak.

Speaking of water pumps. I found out Maximillian will have rebuilt tii water pumps using new bearings sourced from BMW in germany. This will be the equivalent of getting a rebuilt water pump from the dealer at 1/2 the price. I believe the price will be $99 + core charge.

He said it would be two weeks or so before everything would be ready.

I'll post some feedback when I get the rebuilt pump.
