Howdy folks.

I gotta admit that I was really looking for a 914 to play with, my buddy called and told me he had just seen a pretty clean 75 2002 for 500$ so I pressed him for details. I had a 76 in the past ( killed by a drunk lady ) and really liked the car so why not another 2002.

Put the 3 axel on the GMC and away we go to the bay area to take a peek.

It has exactly 5 small dents total, I only saw 3 of them when originally checking it out but doing some work on it today I ran across 2 more small ones. The only rust i can find is in the bottom of the spare tire well, just surface and it cleaned up in a heartbeat with the wire wheel.

Looks to have a 1971 motor in it and they tried to adapt all the smog pump stuff to the early motor and didn't have much luck so it sat unfinished. I've taken all the smog pump stuff back out. There was an Alison vx700 electronic ignition kit in the trunk with a repiept from 1979, never installed ( well now it has been ). Missing some carb linkage for the choke ( I'll pick it up in the morning on the way to the airport )

Hope to have it running on Thursday when I don't have any flights sceduled.

Here is some pics in an album so you can check it out if ya like.

Really looking forward to have another deuce, they are such fun cars.

Thanks for looking.

$500! You california guys (youre talking smog stuff so you've got to be in cali) have it all....rust free 2002s for $500..that car here in the east would be worth at least 3500 - 4000. Good find!

The block # is 1670009.

I'll have to look up the vin on Thursday, it's over at the old mans house ( bless his heart for having such a nice place to build toys )

The bird is in primer, we're doing it up for my mom so she doesn't have to ride around with pops in his 54 vette ( we did that one 15 years ago ). It was originally a pink car but she want it white, so white it's gonna be.

Shocks are Bilstien, Sways may be ST but I haven't got a chance to measure them yet.

Found it in Los Altos.

I live in Citrus Heights ( near Sacramento )

Off topic pinepig but do you have a 10' ceiling in your garage or 9'? sweet hoist and im considering one. unfortunatley my ceiling is only 9'1"

i would need to work on a roller chair but i think it would still be worth it. whats your ceiling height?

we visited my friend the other night who has a nice shop at his house with a 2 post lift similar to yours. on the way home i was telling my wife how nice his shop was and he was lucky to have a hoist. she said "you should get one if it would make doing things easier"

i need to act quick

10 foot celing, and then we notched the trusses so the passenger compartment of a car will go even higher.

I'm 6'4" and just BARELY have to duck to walk under a car when it's at the top.

To tell you the truth though, I have a barstool that I sit on and lower the car down to the height I want it most of the time, like I tell my buddies ( that I seem to be helping all the time ) work smart, not hard.

1668756 and 1676471. those are approximations and cover model year (Sept-Aug) vs calendar year, which is what BMW figures refer to.

Mobile Traditions can tell you the exact build date of your engine if you e-mail 'em.

What luck!! How can you go wrong with such a beauty for $500? Mine was lots more and not really any nicer than this one. Calif. is just different when it comes to these cars. Rust-free is kind of a joke around here! Have fun!
