I recently converted my old 2002tii fuel pump to a 5-series pump. When I ran my first test, I had the pos and neg wires reversed and no fuel was being pumped. I corrected the wires and the pump worked well for about 3 or 4 drives and then it stopped pumping. After checking all the fuel lines and filter for blockage, I determined that the pump had failed.

Did I damage the pump by having the wires reversed initially? When the old 02 pump stopped pumping, it also stopped making any sound at all. That is not the case with this 5-series pump. Although it isn't pumping, it still sounds like its working.

Needless to say, I am in need of a pump if anyone has one to sell. Thanks.

I have several good used tii electric fuel pumps. It would be a good idea to have a spare also. As Gordon stated you can buy rebuilt pumps for anywhere from 125-150 dollars. The BMW list price is a shocking 621.00 for a new pump!!!

Make sure the screen is intact at the botton of the fuel pick up tube. Any crap getting through will stop the pump and most likely burn up the motor. If the screen is missing or torn you can use a fine mesh filter from any hot rod shop as the screen is NLA.
