Hello,

Does anyone know of purpose made 2002 racing fuel cells for sale before I have one fabricated? Looking for 60L that sits between the strut towers right in the back of the boot.

Best Regards

Daj

There are 2 manufacturers in the USA that make FIA approved cells. They are ATL and Fuel Safe. Both have websites with info and sizes. There are a number of other non approved mfg's. Check the web or E-bay for their stuff.

I was just thinking someone may of produced something like the attached pic thats custom fit for the O2 .

Many thanks for the advice you gave my dad on the phone earlier its nice to know that even though we are 3000 odd miles away there is still a helpful voice at the end of the phone!!

That cell is very nice. SCCA rules (good guideline even if you don't race with SCCA) require a .059" aluminium or 22 Ga steel box surrounding a FIA FT-3 bladder (fuelsafe or ATL). If you wanted a cell made like the one pictured, I would order up a custom cell to a precise drawing, make up a can or have one made, and there you go. I've done that several times, after a while you learn to budget for the bladder so you don't have a heart attack when you get the quote. The last custom cell I had made was about $1,600, made to fit into an original Cooper S gas tank. Saved hacking the trunk floor but still... Stock cells are a lot less.

I make the custom cans from .059 3003 aluminium, Tig welded. Remember that they are bloody heavy when full so they need a significant mounting structure.
