Good day Ray,

I got my 02 Turbo radiator from La Jolla Independent. Now on the exhuast, I would strongly suggest that you follow with two tubes instead of using a "Y" pipe at the exauhst down pipe. The S14 Motor needs to breath and exhale. Supersprint has a center section for the E30 M3 that can be custom fitted to the M2 conversion.

Jan,

What do you mean by 2 pipe? Do you have a pic of it. Erik at Edge (that's doing my swap) was just talking about your exhaust this morning. He said it freed up a lot of pressure after you changed it out. He thought it was a Turbo exhaust that you were using also.

Sure Ray,

I had a round center section similar to the 02 Turbo section with a free flow Remus muffler.

We did a Dyno sesion at EDGE and found out that the car was putting 130 HP to the rear wheels. That seemed to be odd. We started to look around to see what could the problem be. That was when Erick and Gordon said that the car might have an exhaust restriction.

We went ahead and disconected the muffler at the downpipes and restested the car. To our surprise it went to 163 HP to rear wheels. Someone before said to me that the exhaust on the E30 M3 has two tubes all the way back and that I should do the same. I started to look around and found a used E30 M3 SuperSprint center section that I had modifed to fit the 02 tunnel.

I went back to EDGE to do another Dyno upon installing the center section. Well the results were great. We did three runs. The best of three was 169 HP to the rear wheels.

I will take pictures of the center section later tonight. I hope that this helps you guys with the M2 conversion.

Note: perhaps the problem was the "Y" pipe that connected the M3 downpipes to the center section.

I would recommend having Curt Ingraham build you a radiator for your M2. He built mine and I'm very pleased with the quality and craftsmanship. Of course I haven’t tested it on a running car yet, as mine is still under construction. But if you do a forum search here you will see he has a great reputation, plus he is great to work with.

You can contact Curt at ingraham@ssl.berkeley.edu

I purchased a Stainless Steel Sebring muffler and resonator for a future custom mandrel bent 2.5 in system. You can get a 2.5 in muffler and resonator from Rob @ 2002 Haus.

I believe the Turbo system is only 2 inch in diameter which even though a fairly un-restrictive system, it's not big enough for the S14. IMHO

I contacted Rob about it already. I may go that route since I want the side exit instead of the center.
