On the steering column, to your right you have the ignition switch. In the same location on the left of the column, my car has a rubber grommet. The eBay euro Tii everyone's been talking about has a hazard light switch in this location. Since I've removed my console, it would be nice to have the switch somewhere other than inside the glovebox, but my switch is too large to mount in place of the rubber grommet on the steering column. Is this the location non-console cars use for the switch? If so, I am guessing the switch is different. Does anyone have this setup for the hazard switch? Thanks!

Andrew

eBay car again for those who wish to see. It's about two-thirds of the way down the page.

That's not the correct location for that year RHD car. probably put there because the owner stuck that ugly A/C console in. It should be to the right of the ashtray (on RHD cars). As it is a tii, and does not have a choke, there should either be a plug there or (I think) a steering-column pad with no hole.

Mine was next to the ashtray until I removed my console. I suppose I can leave it in the glovebox.

i beleive it was moved there when the a/c went away and the Console got redone the first time the car was refurbished about 20 years ago.

Ooooo, my dash looks crappy up close...

Early cars (before the short-to-long-console switch in late '71), had the hazard switch there from the factory. Mine is identical to yours. I'm not sure it it was on all cars or was an add-on for US-spec models. I suspect the latter.

If only I could move the ignition switch to the left, both my cars would match!

Oh, it's late. time for some sleep.

hangs down under the dash just to the right of the ign switch...there's enough slack in the 4 way flasher switch wiring to allow the move. One advantage is that the red light isn't quite so distracting when mounted that low.
