It has come to my attention that my negative camber in the rear passenger tire is the result of a bent Stub Axle, which I guess is the same as a spindle on most cars. Does anyone have any experience with replacing one and if so how difficult will it be? Any and all advice is appreciated as always.

the stub axle will not cause your problem -

a bent-rotten control arm will, or broken saggy spring will,

or worse.

a bent /rotted out rear subframe. Not the stub axle.

excessive camber side...look especially in the vicinty of the sway bar mounting ears--mine rusted thru at that point (fortunately while at rest). You really don't want that to happen while you're driving!

CD is correct--that's not a stub axle problem...

I would also agree with CD. Your problem is most likely a rotted out trailing arm. Just helped a friend replace a rotted out trailing arm on his '76 for the same problem...excessive camber. The trailing arm was completely rusted through on one side....pretty amazing.

It could also be subframe related but I doubt it, unless the subframe itself is rotted out..which I've seen. I have a '74 tii that has one side of the rear subframe hanging down because the mount rusted out of the floor. The wheel is perfectly straight on that side and has no camber issues.

The reason it's not the stub axle is the stub axle rotates with the tire so a bent stub axle will cause the wheel to wobble. A spindle is fixed and doesn't rotate so a bent one would cause a camber change. I agree it's most likely the trailing arm.
