Valve noise questions

I dont know I cant figure it out. I have adjusted the valves several times cold .006" . And still it is noisey. Just got done checking the cam chain still has a 6mm if room before the tension guide hits the stop. But I have one question how tight should the chain be should I be able to move it by hand with some resistance. Also how do I bleed the hydrolic adj. I found it some where but cant seem to find it now.

Also, C.D. being the resident geniuse mabey you could chime in with any off the wall ideas as to what is causing this

P.S. I have a TEP regrind 292 cam and an adustable cam gear.

make sure the valve is closed when adjusting.

noise? I was all paranoid about valve noise once and the mechanic I asked told me our cars valves are just a little on the noisey side.

Maybe compare to another 02 if possible.

do you need lash caps with a regrind? could that be it? just a wild guess...

WHEN IN DOUBT -

replace the chein tensioner!

no slack in the chain ever.

and the oil pump chain should also be ' near ' tight

Sorry C.D. Forgot to tell ya, the cam chain tensioner and guide rail are all new.

When I bought my 2002, I couldn't get the tapping to go away, no matter how well I adjusted it.

The reason was wear between the rocker arm and rocker shafts. Once I got the rocker shafts out, it was clear how ugly it was. I should take pics sometime, they're still laying around. The shafts were ground down bad, and some of the rocker arms didn't sit very securely.

Anyways, try loosening up the eccentrics, then see if there is any slop in the rockers if you wiggle them longitudinally.

New rocker shafts, Acually the whole motor is new. This noise could just be standard opporating noise but I'm not sure.
