I'm going to replace all suspension bushings. One should probably do this every 30 years or so!

The question is, should I go urethane or stock?

I've got Eibach springs, Koni shocks (fronts are adjustable for stiffness) Turbo front bar, Dinan adjustable rear bar and 195/50/15 Bridgestone S03's (very stiff sidewalls). I also live in Toronto, Canada and like so many other cities where you pay too much in taxes, our roads suck!

As it is now, the car is stiff but totally acceptable as a daily driver. Will installing urethane bushings make the ride significantly more harsh?

I'd like to hear from people with similar suspension setups who have only installed urethane bushings as opposed to upgrading everything at the same time.

Thanks...

I installed poly bushings long after doing everything else in the suspension: Eibach springs, Bilstein Sports, 22/19 bars, 195/50-15 Pirellis, and TEP braces. IMHO, the poly bushings were nothing but a major improvement over the old rubber. Now, that's not to say that new rubber wouldn't have been, but I like the urethane. They are easy to install, don't squeek, and make the whole car nicer to drive. I've done long highway trips in the car and don't find it unpleasant at all. It is stiff, to be sure, but not tooth-jarring. The improved precision in the steering and suspension is well worth it.

Still love that front spoiler and want one!

I upgraded to urethane and I'll never go back but I think I didn't use enough goop or dielectric or whatever comes with it. My suspension squeakes ALOT in the cold. In the summertime when things expand a little it's fine but in the cold it's loud & feels almost like something's loose. Just a word to the wise. Don't know if that's just me or if others are in the same boat, don't know if I forgot something, diddn't goop enough, etc...

Go with urethane & you'll never look back.

For my 2 cents-

I just did my full suspension last spring. I used all new rubber bushings, Bilstein HDs, and some Dinan 02 springs. The car was transformed just refreshing these 30+ year old parts with new supple/suportive rubber. I did opt to use Poly-u sway bar end links to help with the body roll just a touch.

Tall tires and rubber suspension parts...rough roads? Bring 'em on.

Hmmmmmmm... Good question! Haven't thought that far ahead. I know Ireland has them and I've heard they're good. Maybe we can get some feedback from all the helpful people on this site...

Thanks for all of your comments on the bushings. I'll be going with urethane!

Do you have a picture? Is it plastic or fiberglass?

...original springs, Boge shocks, etc. (though a 22mm front bar). The urethane was much easier to install than the nuts were to remove (especially the top ball joint castle nuts--ugh!). They don't squeak and just gave a bit firmer ride; I'm not fearful for my fillings or kidneys.

I have 185/65-14 tires, by the way, and I used Bav Auto bushings. Still need to do the rear someday...
