Changing the Starter

Before I dive into this project, are there any of you wise and experienced who can advise me what to watch out for when changing the starter motor?

Is the car carb or tii? We can go from there....

socket U-joint or a wobble extension to get the upper starter bolt out...

And don't forget to mark where the wires go so it'll work when you install the new one! Otherwise it's pretty straightforward, altho a bit of a PITA.

for carb cars it's EASY and quick. Shouldn't take that long but I reccommend taking out the little coolant nipple that comes out of the block just above the upper starter bolt. It's very straightforward on a carb... with a tii... I have no idea

Remember to disconnect the battery before you start.
