I can't figure the VIN...#1786534 is not a real number in my books. But maybe it's a misprint and it's actually #2786534, but then, that means it's a USA-spec car, circa 1974.

Cool, but I'd need more information...

Original color is Granatrot (garnet red metallic), so it's a respray.

Right hand drive? Must be "British Motor Works."

hmm... my bad. theres goes all my good karma for today.

potentially nice car though!! ..and you can see the origianl red colouring at the top of the door/bottom of the glass in the pic with the youngster holding the door card up/on.

non-USA squarelight--non, touring, and carbureted 2002 should have a VIN beginning with 420xxxx if stick and 427xxxx if automatic. A RHD touring VIN woud be 348xxxx.

I would not expect him to have anything correct in his description.

It would be foolish for anyone to buy this car without inspecting it in person.

"The are a couple of oxidized parts that may need to be clean with coke."

There has to be something cheaper than Cocaine to clean up rust... did they have RHD vehicles in South America?.....

The door panels and the rear badge are from the Lux package.

Could be a good resto project if that's what it is.

This ebay auction screams SCAM.

There has been a rash of account thefts and picture thefts on ebay lately.

I'd have somebody local check it out first.

Yes, due to recent fraud activity regarding 2002's and other older BMW's on ebay, I encourage thorough investigation as to wether or not it is "legitimate" especially in light of a recent scam involving a Riviera 02 that went for 19k then was relisted at a much discounted price and money was to be sent to England even though it was listed with a US account. The vin discrepancy could be a red flag...

Yep, that Lux option stuff caught my eye too..

The badge & the inside door trim, that was more common in England, right?

Wish the car's seller was able to communicate more about it, might be worth asking for him to recheck that VIN.

Assuming it is a '74/'75 RHD Tii Lux, the vin should be 277XXXX.
