There are a few different *styles* of valve covers one that says BMW and one with the roundel on it but bottom line is that that valve cover - as long as it came off of an M10 head - will fit any car with an M10 head.

2002, 320, 318, etc. from the 60's thru 1984

Honestly I forget. I think it's an early one and the later ones all say BMW on them. What did it come off of?

I think that's a new one. The little reinforcements where it narrows on the right (forward) side are an improvement over the older ones...I think. I snapped an older one right there (without the reinforcements) by overtightening it.

Don't quote me, but I think that one is from an E21 320i.

car--roundies had the letters "BMW" cast into the metal vs the roundel emblem, and 320 and E30 318 valve covers had various little ears cast into 'em to support EFI gear. That cover has also been painted with what looks like a crackle finish--from the factory they were raw aluminum. Some owners have polished the highlights (2000CS valve covers came that way) while others have polished the entire cover...

Cheers

Well, actually...

It has been powdercoated with textured black powder.

Occasionally when we get a little slow, I like to pick up a different piece and experiment with different powders to see the results.

Originally, I was going to polish the letters also, I think it would look nice but the finish on this looks good like it is.

I think that if I were you I would have a look at those exhaust studs and nuts before I fire that engine up. Might want to replace the missing one too! ;]
