What year?

'92-'93 had limited slip and the '94-'95 had an open diff because they had traction control.

Across the board? I was wondering, as my dad's 325i (93) was always in question. I guess i'll do the burnout test.

Geeze. don't bust his balls.

Dutch, I don't mind all the questions, just be alittle more detailed? are you thinking it might fit an 02?

I'm not sure offhand what the E36 has for a diff but, i believe the pinion/ring gears could be installed into an 02 diff for crazy ratios.

sorry , no i wasnt thinking of transplanting. i am simply asking what is the final drive ratio and if it is a limited slip or not.

Or just jack it up and rotate the wheels.... if its the same direction its a LS diff.

Yes, I believe all the cars had LS until they came out with ASC.

Rumor has it that a very limited number of '94s may have had both. Probably due to the usual overlap in production.
