I think my coil is taking a dump on me.

The motor cuts out at various RPM and the Tach jumps when It does. Which leads me to believe its the coil.

I have the blue coil, will the red coil hook right up?

Thanks,

Morgan

Agree on checking out the distributor. I've seen the same symptoms with loose components in the distributor (loose wire between points and condensor, etc.).

flickers, I'd suspect a worn or sticking point plate. That's the thing the points are fastened to, and can be bought new (complete with points) from a Bosch stockist.

My '69 had similar symptoms--a new point plate cured the problem.

Worth a try--you probably need new points anyway!

Cheers

I dont have points anymore, Petronix. im also running an MSD 6A. but, Ill look into getting another points plate, perhaps another distributor. I have a few, maybe swap another one into the car for a test.

It started doing it about 8 months ago, i thought it was fuel starvation. But, it will also do it with a full tank, new fuel filter, clean screen at the pump and on the kfischer. so its not that.

The tach jumping is whats got me thinking maybe coil. it does it when I bypass the MSD so its not that. any other thoughts? I have a bosch002 in the car, and a 008 on the bench. maybe ill swap them out see if it still does it.

Thanks, and I liked the write up this month in roundel, I too alway travel with many extra parts!
