My '76s vacuum unit is dead, so I disconnected it.

If I spend the $50+ for a new one, will I feel it?

Just curious since I'll probably do it anyway.

My distributor is 0 231 170 164 on a stock 49-state motor with a 32/26.

Does this part look like it has the Bosch emblem?

Read the "Tips for Reliable Performance . . " section at this link

This is a good general discription of the benefits offered by the vacuum assited distributor. I were in your situation and I was sure the vacuum assist unit was bad I would replace it before I replaced anything else. That's my 02 cents worth. Good luck. TC

The older I get the better I was!

Thanks, but under "Vacuum Advance Distributor" it says "TBD"

Did I miss the section?

Thanks,

Mike

Will any Vac unit work? Will a Vac retard's vacuum unit work on a vac advance distributor? i.e. is the vacuum action the same, just the guts of the distributor different?

What did a US '74 come with, advance or retard?

Thanks
