I have absolutely no idea what it takes to organize a "private" 2002 AutoX, but I wonder if it would possible to get one together on the same weekend as the San Mateo Swap and Show. Anybody have experience organizing these things? Sorry if this is just so naive that it crosses into sheer stupidity territory.

The two things that would kill the event are a suitable site, and the insurance.

Suitable sites are VERY few and far between in the Bay Area, with many different groups all trying to get access to the same place on the same day.

The liability insurance is a chunk of change too, and add that to the site rental fees. With a smaller number of cars, the entry fees would have to be pretty high to cover all the costs.

Then the logistics of running the event. If you watch a CCA or SCCA autocross from the outside, it looks like a bunch of ants running around doing different tasks. If you limit the number of attendees, you also limit the number of available volunteers.

Yes, it CAN be done, there are just some awfully high hurdles to get across.
