it's been a while and it appears that several Projects, including mine have moved to page 2 by several 'test' postings.

is there any way to 'bubble-up' postings as they are updated?

You can set the thread bump feature on at your profile settings but as at least I don't like it here on general discussion it is not very working solution. We would need a real project blog that would kick the updated thread up. Comments and discussion should be separated from the project diary.
