Getting ready to seal up the valve train, and would appreciate advice on best way to install the valve cover gasket. Since I will want to be able to re-torque the head, and check the valves, is it better to glue the gasket to the valve cover, or to the head ? What sealant works the best ?

Thanks agaiin. You can tell by the questions that we are getting closer to the end of the engine phase of the restoration. I couldn't have gotten this far without all your help.

Clean both mating surfaces and just put it on. The valve cover gasket is all but indestrictible and will only las between 200 amd 213 reuses for valve adjustments. When you get your engine alltogether correctly not much for you to do but adjust valves and drive like you stole it. Have fun

criss-cross pattern (center two, then the next two outer ones diagonally, then the two diagonally and lastly the one at the very front. And check your manual for torque--it doesn't take much to warp the valve cover and make it leak.

Tightening pattern:

6 1 3

7

4 2 5

cheers
