have a factory rebuilt tii engine new in the box. bought it to put in non injected 71 project car. small problem....the front cover. since my car won't be sporting a k=fish ,i need to change the front cover or have the belt cover hanging in the breeze. how big of a deal is that. can it be done without screwing up the head and pan gaskets. hate to screw up a virgin rebuilt engine. should i sell engine and buy a stage2 elswhere...suggestions

If you don't want to mess up the gaskets you can run it with the tii front cover although you will have to get the tii alternator mount and run the alternator in the tii location. If it is the early front cover it will have ears cast into the cover. If it is the later cover you will have to get the cast iron tii alternator mounting bracket.

You can swap front covers easy enough...it's only held on by a few bolts. You may have to get a new front cover gasket though..not sure if you could get away with reusing the old one...even though it's new still.
