I dont remember if I posted this or not, but about a week ago my lower engine mount snapped at the frame while I was driving. I limped it to my work where they welded back together, but only as a temporary fix. I have to pull the motor to completely fix it. Anyway, while I have the motor out, Im thinking I should do a basic rebuild. I am planing on doing all the gaskets etc, as well as the piston rings. I don't really want to go far into it, but it has been burning a lot of oil lately. If I am able to put work into it everyday, which I will, and as long as I don't run into too much trouble, should it be that complicated and long. I know they are pretty basic motors, so Im not really worried. I am also planning on swapping out the motor mounts, as they need to be replaced. Anything I should know?

When I did the motor on one 02, I just got a decent used complete motor and we dropped it in over one marathon session- 12 hours and drove it home the next morning.

One option I did on another motor was to get a rebuilt head and then just rebuild the lower end myself. Quick and fairly easy job. Rings, bearings, seals, etc... The big advantage of the rebuilt head is that all the machine work and assembly will be done. No suprise hidden costs.
