I am doing a motor rebuild and using a 284F cam, weber 2bbl 38/38, e12 head with mild head work. The car is a track only car for circle and auto-x, I was planning on using the 9.5 tii pistons what does everybody think? Any other ideas or comments.

thanks

Use a bigger cam especially if it is a "track only" car!

At least a 304 would work great because a 3838 like's to run wide open anyway, and can be jetted for more fuel to accomodate the bigger cam easily.

Its a stock/oem only class wink wink, so the 304 would really be easy to spot

OK well you didnt say that and also means the 38 isnt legal either

Head porting and exhaust, crank scraper and baffle, and higher compression pistons may get you more grunt. Lower gearing too.

set of new 9.5 tii pistons in either std or .5mm oversize left from an engine rebuild...will sell at a good price. I'll post when we've discovered what 203k miles will do to the stock bores...and which set of pistons will join the temporarily unemployed list.

cheers

Let me know what you want for the pistons? send me an email or post. I will check to see what size the block will be at after the clean up is done.

Mike,

If you end up not needing the 0.5 overs (I suspect you'll need them) and granth doesn't want them, drop me a line. I could use a bit more compression than I'm getting with my flat tops and E12 head.
