Glad mine were replaced 1st thing when I bought the car. The seals were so dry and hard that I wondered what bizarre compound they were made from.

I wouldn rely on this to save my life.

New or old, the rubber seals are not designed to hold any impact. They are specificaly designed to pop out upon impact otherwise they would be glued or secured to the body better than with a piece of loose rubber.

For now some car manufacturer use special urethane and surface preparation wich hold more than 4000lbs/inch2 to support air bags explosion. These windshield are designed to stay.

Ive been in the automotive glass business for almost 12 years, ask me how i now.

That beign said, replace then anyway, they will not save your life at all but will leak and will give the car cancer ;)

37 years old, or however old the car is. Why do you ask?
