Not doing it myself, and chose a mechanic with

excellent knowledge of the e30 M3 as well as the

02. Dave Varco's manual from Aardvark is very

useful and worth the outlay (www.2002parts.com),

and apart from that there's not much more to say.

Better to start with a Tii for the fuel pick up and

struts, but not a big deal if you don't. It would be

even better to start with an auto if you plan to use

the M3 box as well as it's got a wider transmission

tunnel.

Good luck,

Nick

there is a guy in nyc who is selling a motor with 77K on it for 2500. Price is about on par for what i have seen, but what makes this a little better than most, if you are in the area, is it is still in the car. So you can really test the motor before buying. A pretty rare occurance from what I have seen.

There is a s14 listed this month in roundel. Located in Cali. $2500, owner says 50k miles (i'd check the vin on carfax, 50k is low). If you don't get the roundel, make sure you join the bmwcca. It pays for itself after a couple of trips to the dealer parts department, not to mention a ton of other benefits. The roundel alone makes it worthwhile.

also check out www.bimmers.com 'for sale section' under both m3 and 2002 pages

You may want to put out some feelers to local junkyards. You never know when a m3 will show up.
