Well, a big fat wide smiled HOWDY to ya' all. After dropping off the radar for about 6 months....I am once again connected to this here internet thingy.

Life's thrown me quite a few curve balls over the last few months (divorce, new address, new job, etc...) but I've somehow ended up on my feet. My 02 (Emily) is safe and sound in a heated garage a few dozen yards from my apartment...away from the white gritty stuff.

I've landed the car-guy dream job of a lifetime at a full-blown race shop: building, campaigning, and repairing Speed Challenge cars (Volvo S60R, Porsche) , Porsche Cup Cars, Grand Am Cup cars, and the occasional restoration / street car project. Still living in Baltimore, but commuting to Laurel MD every day - I get to work in a clean, well lit place surrounded by beautiful machinery from Germany. I've built my first Porsche 964 competition motor, get to test drive Porsches every day, installed my first $40,000 996 Cup Car gearbox, and should soon be flown around the country as a pit crew guy for the Speed Challenge stuff. (Sebring in March I'm told!)...life does not get any damned better....and it's not the kind of lifestyle one can live while maintaining a mortgage and a spouse...so I guess all things happen for a reason. The company is "At Speed Motorsports' and I should soon have an e mail account through the shop.

Would I sell my 02 for a Porsche?....no....but if things work out the way I hope - there may someday be a nice (preferably silver) 1972 911S in my future.

I'll be in touch - and hope to see some familiar names here in the coming weeks!

Paul

So it's great to be back - I sure missed you folks....and I hope to be more active on the new (to me anyway) forum!

'Can't wait to see the tii...although if you're smart - you won't bring it around until May or so - that outta give the rains a chance at rinsing the salt off I-95! Stop by any time - I'd love to show the place oiff - although I can't take credit for most of the eye candy you're likely to see.

Welcome back Paul! I know how change is...I changed jobs recently too...and I'm alot older than you are! :-) Hope things work out for you.

I envy you going to Sebring in March...very cool place! I was there in '64..saw Vettes going head to head with Cobras all day long...gosh, was that ever a great memory for a young kid to see (and remember!).

See you soon,

John

p.s. take a look at Hugo!

That's a dashboard for a MG-TD that's being worked on. NOT a BMW dash. Tell me you aren't going to try to install that into a BMW 2002.

indeed - a TD dash it is....not too long ago - I was fixin' up British cars....still have to say that a well sorted Lotus Elan with DCOEs is the absolute best car for absolute DRIVING I've ever experienced...but don't let my 02 hear that! Pity the Loti are such Muthers to work on!

Glad Emily is ok too. Still waiting for enough info & pictures to make her famous as a COTM. All the best. Now keep in touch, Rich. Web site Makeover should be done any day now. Fingers crossed.

I fail to see how the new occupation is going to make up for your time away from providing us with the knowledge and parts to make our cars complete!!!

Glad you're back man, having also started a new job, I know how it goes, but I think I'd rather be working on race cars all day than beating my brains on technology junk.

Welcome back Paul!!!!

Sorry to hear about the divorce. I hope it was amicable.

Congrats on the new job and new address. It's got to be just like starting a new life. A good time to asses what you want to carry over and what you want to drop behind.

Hi, Paul!

Welcome Back!

In my thirty-odd years of ups and downs in businesss and personal life, the only "constant" has been my '02 passion and the folks that that drive, modify and maintain them.

Relationships and jobs come and go. BMW 2002s are forever...

Rock on!
