IIRC, Devlin made fiberglass bodies and kit cars in the 50's and the 60's. Add your own drivetrain and go!

Here's a more typical Devin SS racecar -- ot sure what powers it, however. The canted BMW M10 doesn't need that "power bulge" in the hood.

The bodies came in two sizes -- this little one for small bore racing and a larger model that usually got Corvette or Jaguar engines.

Most of the Devin bodies were put on a British chassis such as a TR3. They pop up once in a while on E-bay. Back in the 60's, there were alot of small production British specials. TVR, Lotus, Ginetta, Marcos, and Elva to name a few. Most were tube framed fiberglass cars with components from other cars. They were crude but very fast for the day.

I drove a 1970 Marcos with a volvo 6 cylinder in it once. What a strange car. My favorites were the TVR's. I had one vith a Ford V-6 for a couple of years.

Bill Devin (as mentioned in a couple of other posts) built fibreglas bodies, primarily for installation on existing sports/import frames - in addition to TR3/Healy type setups, there was also a Devin-D (VW floor pan, VW or Porsche power, long before VW based dune buggies), Devin-C (Corvair power, VW floor pan) and the Devin SS - link to some original info below.

Devin SS's were tube frame / body combinations designed to take Corvette running gear - most were sold as kits, but Devin also offered turn key cars. All Devin's are pretty collectable (especially cars with a history stretching back to when the bodies were new), and Devin SS's are very, very desirable vintage racers.

I've seen a number of SS's and Devin D's at vintage events, and there's a VW powered D somewhere in my end of Sacramento (only seen it once), but I've never seen one with a hardtop before - the Craigs List car looks really nice - just a guess, but anything under $20-$25 k should be a bargin if it's as nice as it looks, particularly if it's built on period correct frame.
