my gas cap wont open

i put the key in and turn the cap like i usually do but it lock in one position until i remove the key, i tried using my spare key but the same thing happened, what do i do. do i need a new gas cap or could something just be lodged in there.

ahhh i need gas.

the last time i filled up i had to do it through the trunk the gas clerk guy thought i was steeling gas or something.

Dismantle it, put it back together and leave it unlocked?

get a new gas cap?

mine doesnt lock and I just put $50nz in the tank

i cant just not lock it i cant take the key out without locking it and how am i gonna dismantle it without being able to get it off the car.

Go in from the trunk, remove the filler neck from the side panel and tank. Now you have access to the lock "tabs" and can press them inwards to remove the cap.

CAUTION - take steps to cover the tank opening as you have volatile liquid and fumes that you will be working around.

wierd... i just went to try and open the cap and it oped fine. i dont know whats going on.

does the key turn? try a spray lube in there and work the key until it turns.

it turns but when the gas cap reaches a certain degree it locks in place untill i take out the key.
