Ok, so Iam trying to fit the updated 2002 Pierburg pump (new style.#1331125192) to my 72 1600. The water outlet to preheat the intake is interfering with the pump. Tried rod #133112150398 and spacer #13310680109, they are the same as what I am trying to replace. Whats up with that.. help please.C

Yes, which spacer and rod are to be used with that, on a 1600.. I have a 20mm spacer and a 107mm rod!! but with the spacer on it doesn't space the pump far enough off the head to allow for the clearance of the H20 outlet to manifold. Where in your pic the hose travels between the diaphram housing and the pump base, mine bisects it at the rim of the housing (can't get the angle). thnx C

If you're running the 1600cc motor with the 38PDSI Solex, don't use the 2002 pump because it will pump too much fuel and overload the carb. It's OK! to use it with the larger 32/36 Weber though. You also have to use a different length rod with that particular 2002 pump. I have also noticed that those late Pierberg pumps pinh the manifold water hose. Earlier pumps have a stepped shape to clear that hose. I think these later pumps were designed for the 3.0 cars (They look the same as those on the 3.0 cars).
