OK, so I'm at a mechanic friend's place and keeps telling me about "this old 2002" he has in his warehouse. The car's owner has long since gone and the car has no title.

So today, I'm at his shop, and I ask him if I can go look at it...big mistake.

Turns out it's a roundie -- '73 Agave. Tobacco/black interior. No sunroof. It's mostly there, but pretty beat up. Cracked dash, broken windshield, taillights, headlights, sidemarkers. There is minor rust in the rockers and the front fenders. The front/rear shock towers are good. The left rear quarter is smashed, but the car rolls on late-model styled steelies. The driveline is intact. The engine turns. It's got a Weber carb.

I'm only interested in this car for the few trim parts that I feel worthy of plucking from it.

I'd love to have those few parts, but I don't have any interest in any of the rest of it.

Any one need a roller/project?

The car is in Grand Rapids, MI.

Thanks,

Delia

Delia, too bad you didn't find this car 2 weeks ago when I was in Grand Rapids visiting. Could have dragged it home here to Atlanta.

Delia,

Take the whole 02 if you have a place to store it. I firmly believe that anyone that has a 35 year old car needs a parts car. Who knows, it could be a future project car for a daily driver. Of course you'll bring OJ out on nice days.

something to drive...

How much is the guy asking?

As you may already know...I was laid off from my engineering job, I've practically sold my 05 Scion xB, and really need something to drive....it doesn't need to be pretty, just roadworthy with the usual TLC.

Please let me know...this would mean a lot to me.

TIA

Mike,

I'm sorry you got laid off. Things are tough here in Michigan, fersure.

This car's been sitting for a lot of years in dry storage, but that's where ther "good part" ends. The left rear quarter is smashed in pretty bad, and I can't be certain about alignment the trailing arm mount. The windshield is gone. All of the lights are broken out, and the interior is split and broken down.

I'm not optimisitic about making it roadworthy as-is. It *could* be saved and restored, but not without a lot of work. I think the numbers match. As a non-sunroof car it has potential as a race/rally car, but that's not in my budget.

Because it's a '73, and has most of it's '73-only bits still attached, I'd dearly like to have those parts.

If I buy it, I'll bring it to my garage, remove the parts I want, and pass the rolling shell to the next person.

Those are my thoughts for the moment, anyway...

will want it and drag it home...If anyone's interested, I know of a good 72 body shell here in the Dayton area...

BTW--any suggestions for B&Bs or "reasonable" hotels/motels reasonably near the Ofest "official" HQ hotel?

If you book your room here, it's near the hotel headquarters and a mere stone's throw (literally) from my house.

Might be a bit more pricey than Montezuma, CO, and the drive to the main hotel isn't nearly as much fun. Then again, it's not on a gravel road.
