My local dealer is not versed in 2002s and their prices seem to suck lately.

I'm putting together a parts order, so i want to get it right since the Vacuum Advance Unit is a bit pricey. My distributor is a 0 231 170 164.

Looked up my car on RealOEM and found the following:

Vacuum Regulator - 12111359879

Repair Set Vacuum Regulator - 12111351441

Any idea what the Repair Set is? From the picture, it looks like two tiny parts.

Since you seem to be so plugged-in to the BMW collective brain, how about some truly useful info on what those part numbers really are?

That "repair set" looks like it consists of the screw that holds the vacuum module to the carb and maybe the C-clip that secures the module's pushrod to the post on the points plate. Only $10.60 for $0.50 worth of standard metric fasteners a person probably doesn't need! Such a deal!

Also, what exact years and models does that advance module # apply to? The ETK is not very clear and I see at least three part numbers that might all apply to '68-'76 models. From the factory manual specs I can see there were a number of modules used that varied in amount of advance vs vacuum (and '73/'74 had retard modules - maybe the same part just flipped over?) and in the US almost every model/year variant after 1972 has a different dizzy.

To the OP, the module itself fails by becoming leaky and last I looked you cannot open them to replace the diaphragm so BMW's calling it a "repair set" is offering a false hope.

Yeah, I was figuring that the "repair set" wasn't worth it.

And I do really want to make sure I buy the right $70 vacuum advance unit. And, if I do, that extra advance better make a difference!
