I have an E21 5 spd in my `70 2002 and I blew out the clutch line (see earlier post for what I used to economically replace the `85 318 line). I couldn't get to the slave cylinder (tight fit with the 5 spd) to undo the line, so, I cut an access hole and later made a cover for it.

Anyone else do this? I, for one, really like being able to bleed the clutch by myself.

What do you guys think?

take some measurements from known points along the floor and tunnel so we can do the same thing without guessing as to where to put the hole?

I had the same problem with an old Renault--poor access to the M/C which by design was under the floor and very difficult to reach--and used the same solution. Just be sure and seal the opening with a non-hardening sealer to keep out moisture, noise and oil...

I have thought about a round hole using some type or solid gromett to seal the opening. I have not found a solid gromment that big.

Maybe those that surf the McMaster Carr sight know of something.

You patch looks swell, going to put one on the other side so you can fill the tranny?

As for your clutch line the one from a 1990 318i is the perfect extension for your stock four speed one.
