My passenger door pops when it opens and the pin that is in there connected to the metal rod is bent up pretty good, but it does still hold itself open. How do you correct the popping noise?

The drivers door just swings way open, there isn't a pin or even the bar to attach it to, where do I get that at?

I've got the same problem, I think it is the pin not fitting since the hole in the part that attaches to the frame is too big and now loose.I think I need to weld a couple of washers over the old holes to make the pin fit snug again. I had to make the holes bigger to fit my new style door brake. and I think that I made it too big. Al

1. get a straight, new, unworn pin (dealer has 'em, otherwise find one that'll fit at the hardware store)

2. The door brake itself should have a plastic sleeve that fits inside the loop that the pin goes thru--bet yours is either missing or worn out, so either get a new sleeve from the dealer (if it's available) or find something suitable and make it fit.

3. Fit pin and sleeve so the pin is tight in the sleeve; that should eliminate the snap. Hopefully the bracket that's welded to the car isn't worn to the point the pin is loose. If it is, you'll still get some noise, but not too much.

All good suggestions... However, if you need to replace the Door Brake itself, I recommend one from 2002 AD - They bolt straight in, are well built, work really well and are quiet. They don't make that really loud "pop" that the factory ones do, which can lead to the weld breaking on the door pillar. Don't forget to order the pin as well!

www.2002ad.com - Just do as search under "Door Brake". They're $107.25.

here are photos of the door stops. both have a partial nail in them it looks like. the one that has the metal brake the paint atleast is cracked, but not sure about the structure under it...afraid to look.

the drivers door does't have the brake and it looks as though inside the door where the brake goes through something looks broken off. guess I go to the hardware store.

As long as the part welded to the door pillar isn't broken off, all you need to do is replace the door brake itself. There is two bolts that hold it in place. Just remove the bottom of the door panel, unscrew the bolts, reach inside the door and remove it, then install the new one. Took me all of about 5 minutes!

and interior trim panel. A little rain will ruin the trim panel, a little more rain will ruin your carpets, and wet carpets rust your floors. Use spray adhesive and thin plastic. Glue down every mm of the plastic that contacts the inside of the door shell, except near the lock rod. Very important to keep the inside of your door water tight.

Ah, that one... Yes, I'm getting new door panels this spring and will make sure I install new plastic... Thanks!
