The best thing for a superb little sport sedan that the newest ones are 30 years old this year.

Sixteen 02's on ebay.

Did a search for an e36 318ti resently and there was only one. (I think there are 4 up this week).

Did a search on e30's ..about as many as there are 02's.

Not only that but there seems to be a healthy demand for parts as well.

I guess this will ensure they will be around at least another 15 years! (hopefuly another 30)

The oldest ones are nearing 40 years old... that blows my mind...

Yes the demand for parts...either new or used...is very high for these cars. I am a regular 02 parts seller on ebay (search username jeremybd) and I see everything from used control arm bolts to front nose clips sell on a regular basis. It's good to know there are still enough 02s out there to support the market of parts on ebay. The demand for the cars is there too..and the value that these cars are retaining is amazing. I saw a tii on the bay yesterday and it was at $17,000 and some change with the reserve met!!

our cars ought to be so "cheap".

When the cars were sold new, they were not inexpensive in comparison to alternatives.

........and it's a very long journey from what most of us own to the restoration/conservation level that $20K(and more) will buy you today.

Didn't Delia post recently that a full set of replacement bumpers will cost about $2500? Why be suprised at the value of good cars?

Ugh, besides that Shelby Cobra, those cars are downright disgusting to look at.

Thats exactly what I was thinking...

There's a kid who drives a 70's Charger (or something to that nature) around here where I live that I've seen a few times and I can't help but think he/his parents probably paid 15k for (not too mention its the ugliest thing I've ever seen) and here I am in my $2800 02 that is in better shape and a lot more capable in the corners!
