it will start but if i dont give it gas in the first few seconds it will just slow down and stop. it feels like only 3 cylinders are running for the first 5 seconds or so. and when i drive when i first start it it almost stalls because of the resistance of the gear and the lack of consistant power due to the "3 cylinder first five seconds or so". also i have some crappy black coil i think that might be it, but i dont know. either way im gonna get a bosch blue coil.

Dutch, there are so many things going on with your car, and with the type of questions you are asking, I am afraid you have to many things going on at once to properly isolate and troubleshoot it yourself by constantly posting questions here. You are just getting opinions.

Find a mechanic in your area to look at your car and make it run like it was designed to run... unless that's not your goal.

Post where you live - somebody here is bound to know who you can take it to.

AND, The proper coil for a 2002tii is the Bosch Reed coil with the 1.8ohm ballast resistor installed, not the Blue or Black versions.

when you read all my topics at one time it seems like a lot but i ask lagit questions . and why would i take my car to a mechanic when i could ask someone who possibly is a mechanic on the FAQ. i wasnt asking for people like you to give there opinion. because all you will tell me is what i allready know. ya i will go to a mechanic as a last resort. also there isnt as much wrong with my car as it may seem when reading my posts. im not a person who can just buy a car and leave it alone, i have to make it my own, not stock buy altered.

I'd go to http://www.thetiiregister.com/ and download the fuel injection manual. There are procedures in there for testing various parts of the system --

It sounds to me like something is funky in the warm up phase of your engine -- you had also said you got a big backfire which could mean the mixtures are not quite right with the car in general.

Check the warm up transmitter part of the manual. It tells you how to see if its in spec and how to set it right if it isn't. There are also pretty easy to follow directions on setting the linkages to the KF which could be out of wack.

best of luck!

I have a new Bosch Red coil and the 1.8 resistor that I purchased only to learn that I should use the Blue coil as I have a non tii, maybe we could do each other a favor.

Then that brings the question as to if my '75 02 has the resistor wire already installed. I once read a post that stated that there is a yellow wire that is the resistor wire and therefore no need to add the ballast resistor; is that true. I'm scared I might fry something if I fo down the wrong path. I installed a pertronix ignition, 8 mm wires with new plugs but I'm no mechanic and this is the first car I ever actually attempted to work on and I've had it for less than a year.
