engine and drivetrain Ne1 build a hot M20 engine with carbs?

Am wondering if anyone has (or knows of someone) who has built a performance M20 engine with triple Webers, Schrick 292, HC pistons, headers, etc.? What would one be like and are there problems in doing it?

Not that a stock M20 engine isn't good enough, but a naturally aspirated M20 with all the typical performance goodies would HAVE to be pretty cool! The sound of triple carbs on one of these engines would be awesome. I think it would be an attention getter at shows too.

It seems to me that many of the required parts are available in Germany for this, if not in the US.

Maybe if one were to so this, maybe a 2.7 liter crank would be the icing on the cake too......

Passing emissions laws might be the killer though?

I managed to get my hands on a DCOE manifold for an M20 this time last year for $50. Sold it this year for $400.

I guess that doesn't really help you any, but you're looking at a lot of expense if you're trying to do this.

i have sold three sets of triple 40 idf's and one set of triple 40 dcoe's in ebay 2-3 years ago. i can still get these if you want. i know they are not cheap around USD$800-1200 for a used set.

also might have supersprint headers for an m20. you can also use the bmw m20 4 barrel intake and use a holley 3140/60 4 barrel setup. you also need the M20 distributor (e12 520/6, e21 320/6 & 323i used these) , coil and ignitor if you are doing a carb setup.

You can even put a 4 barrel carb on your M20 if you want, Some Euro spec M20's came with a 4bbl, shop around and you'll find one.
