In every post I read, C.D. reccomends using MarvelMystery oil to stop the smoking.

DRAIN THE OIL HOT:

refill with 1 qt MARVEL MYSTERY oil

and 3.5 qts 20w/50 oil and new oil filter

drive it for a nonstop trip 200 miles and drain

change oil and filter again and refill with 20W50

or 15w/50 MOBIL 1 and report your findings (sightings)

after another 100-200 miles of driving.

------------

Can I save money by adding the Marvel to my old oil, and changing it 200 miles later?

I'm assuming the Marvel softens/cleans the valve seals and other engine parts. Is this correct?

I think its worth a shot. Normally, it will only smoke if I close the throttle at 5000 RPM , but one day it smoked everytime I closed the throttle over 3500 RPM. It hasen't done that since.

I'm going to college in the fall, and will have another car for the hard highway driving, so I don't want to rebuild the head.

Thanks again

The only honest product on the shelf.

DO NOT QUESTION IT

:)

So obviously I"ve got no idea, but I put some in my generator and it does keep the valves from building up carbon. Who fricking knows why.. its a marvel.. A MYSTERY!

I don't see that happening. That's like 3-4 hours highway!

Is that a requirement for the benefit?

especially after reading the other thread about Marvel Mystery Oil. Check out the other thread. It may answer some of your questions, especially about why it should be added before a highway trip. I believe you want the engine to get nice and hot.

Although, if it cleans as well as synthetic oil, I'd be worried about oil leaks.

I use it for that at work non stop for many issues. we import, test, and rebuild Japanese longblocks. as the tester I run them on a bench with a natural gas carb and my own manifolds. into the cyls 50/50 with lacquer thinner (in a squirt bottle through plugs), I crank em over by hand and work it into the rings and valves, then I spin it over & spit out all kinds of carbon and sludge. put plugs in it and fire it up. wide open throttle 3 or 4 times snapping it shut. usually only takes one round, I've seen compression go from non running 30 all the way to a full 220 lbs in 6 minutes... when you take the plugs back out, the pistons are usually shiny & clean. it seems to almost disolve into oil even without mixing thinner into it.

I use it all day and it's still a mystery..
